i am loving this song!!!!! you can enjoy the song while you read this! THE CANOE STORY A PERSONAL ACCOUNT. It was a bright and beautiful tuesday morning.............the sun was shining and the birds were chirping. i was at school and it was period four and five; my hpe lesson (physical education or gym as i believe the northern hemispherians call it). canoing was on the agenda for the day.........on the school dam for that fact. the dam in which turtles, eels, various birds and who knows what else lives in and around. we were learning the different sweeps, paddling techniques and how to swap places with others in the middle of the water. i was with two other girls in a canoe we all like to call the Banana as it is the longest and most yellow of all the canoes. we were all having so much fun on the water...........that was until our time was up and we all had to go over to the bank, pull our vessels up out of the dam and place them on their sides against a tree to dry. it was the Banana's turn to come out and my two partners jumped out to pull it to shore.........of course we were all working together to keep it steady as everyone got out.............well everyone but me. you see, the other two were so used to using the two seater canoes that they had completely forgotten about yours truly. i had managed to get one foot on the bank by myself but was having a difficult time getting my other foot ashore. so there i was with one foot on the bank and the other in the canoe elegantly performing the splits above the water (you know not many people have achieved that in their lifetime) with the teacher yelling (and chuckling at the same time) to me to get back in the boat............of course no body had come to my rescue when the canoe began to drift out to the middle of the dam. now my legs are not long so i could only hold the position for a certain amount of time until i eventually came down with a splash. of course i was not too pleased at this as it was only the beginning of the day and i now had to go through the rest of it feeling terribly gross. both of my team members were wanting to capsize that day but they did not get wet...........only i, the one who did not feel the same way. *sigh* THE END i would have loved to see myself that day! i'm sure that a few of you guys would have too........ **cough cough JESS cough ahem cough MUM cough cough** i think i may need some soothers for that cough! well catch y'all later! Tiff ps~ would it be too shocking to know that i had actually been formally presented with an award for HPE a few nights ago? didn't think so! the best stunts i believe it was for? you think that was a good stuff up.........i won't even bother telling you about dance class! |
